The Rail Network Authority plans to announce the final winning design on September 27th after deliberation by the judging committee. The evaluation will focus on whether the design incorporates symbolic elements reflecting the unique characteristics of the region, convenience of public transportation use such as transfer connections, utilization of the station plaza space by the community, and excellence in carbon reduction-oriented design.

Once the winning design is selected, the design of Buseong Station will proceed from October this year through the first half of 2025. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, with station operations starting from the end of 2029.

Meanwhile, Buseong Station is a project entrusted by Cheonan City to be newly established between Jiksan Station and Dujeong Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1 within Cheonan, considering the population increase in the Buseong district urban development project.

The Rail Network Authority expects that once this station is completed, the east-west accessibility of the Buseong area, which has been divided by the Gyeongbu Line railway, will improve, contributing to regional economic development including industry and tourism.

Kim Han-young, Director of the Rail Network Authority, stated, “The Rail Network Authority will ensure that Buseong Station is completed as a transportation hub in the Cheonan Buseong district and becomes a landmark of the region.”
