Gangbuk-gu ‘Mia 4-1 District Reconstruction Maintenance Plan’ Resident Briefing Session
On July 31 at the district office auditorium... Up to 22 floors, 16 buildings, 1,030 households, significantly expanded project feasibility
Public inspection of maintenance plan and district designation change proposal until August 18
Seoul Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 20th that it will hold a public inspection and briefing session to gather residents' opinions on the Mia 4-1 District reconstruction maintenance plan and district designation change proposal.
The inspection documents can be viewed at the district office's Housing Maintenance Division and the Mia 4-1 District union office. The inspection period runs until August 18, and opinions can be submitted in writing at the inspection locations.
The resident briefing session will be held on the 31st of this month at the district office auditorium, and local residents are welcome to attend.
The Mia 4-1 District union proposed a maintenance plan change to the autonomous district in 2021 and was proceeding with the maintenance plan change process when residents expressed a desire to promote the project through the ‘Rapid Integrated Planning’ process. After 20 rounds of discussions and plan adjustments involving the autonomous district, residents, and experts, the Rapid Integrated Planning was completed last November.
According to the revised plan, the retaining wall section along Wolgyero was included in the district boundary, lowering the maximum height of the retaining wall (from 13m to 8m), and the land use zone was upgraded (from Type 2, 7 floors to Type 2 General Residential Area), applying urban planning regulations flexibly to suit local characteristics.
Additionally, the district area was expanded and the land use zone upgraded, planning for up to 22 floors, 16 buildings, and 1,030 households, significantly enhancing project feasibility compared to the original 2009 maintenance plan of up to 15 floors, 15 buildings, and 704 households.
The area will open near the Dongbuk Line light rail station, scheduled for completion in 2026, and will include neighborhood living facilities, social welfare facilities, and urban public housing.
District Mayor Lee Soon-hee stated, “Through this public inspection and briefing session, it is expected that the maintenance plan change decision will be made within this year,” and added, “The Mia 4-1 District will be reborn as a transit-oriented and forest-oriented residential complex where residents can enjoy natural environments such as Buk Seoul Dream Forest.”
