The Jeonnam Police announced on the 18th that they have begun on-site inspections of areas affected by landslides and road control sections within their jurisdiction due to continuous heavy rainfall.
The police forecast that from now until the 19th, rainfall of 100 to 200 mm or more is expected in the Jeonnam region, raising concerns about casualties caused by soil runoff from landslides and flooding in low-lying riverside areas.

On this day, the on-site inspections were conducted at Boknae-myeon, Boseong-gun (the boundary point between Boseong and Hwasun), where a landslide occurred on the 13th and is currently under restoration; Dugokgyo Bridge in Ogok-myeon, Gokseong-gun, and Dugasewolgyo Bridge in Godal-myeon, both submerged and currently closed; and the Nogodan Iljudo Road in Gurye-gun, which is under preemptive control due to the risk of landslides.
Chief Lee Chung-ho assessed the progress of landslide restoration and traffic control situations during the on-site inspection and encouraged the police officers present.
Chief Lee Chung-ho urged, “Since disaster sites are directly linked to the lives and safety of the public, please conduct proactive and meticulous preventive activities on-site and always do your best to meet the expectations of the residents.”
A Jeonnam Police Agency official stated, “As more heavy rain is forecasted, we will maintain close emergency communication with related agencies and strengthen preemptive patrols in areas prone to road flooding and landslides to control access in advance when risks arise, making every effort to prevent damage.”
