Risk of Landslide Makes Traffic Restriction Unavoidable
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will impose traffic restrictions on a section of County Road No. 12, Nogodan Ilju Road [Cheoneunsa Parking Lot Entrance ~ Seongsamjae ~ Dalgung Samgeori (Jeollanam-do border), L=14km].
The county has restricted traffic since July 15 to prevent traffic accidents due to the issuance of heavy rain and landslide warnings.
The restricted section is at high risk of landslides, and all vehicles are prohibited from passing through. Since the restricted section is located at a high altitude where weather prediction is difficult, users are required to exercise special caution.
The county stated that it will minimize traffic inconvenience for residents by inspecting not only the Nogodan Ilju Road but also local roads and slopes, and will ensure thorough safety management by cooperating with related organizations for prompt response in case of any incidents.
County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “Although inconvenience to tourists visiting Jirisan during the summer vacation season is expected, we ask for your understanding as this is an unavoidable measure to prevent loss of life and property damage caused by nationwide heavy rains.”
