Listening Attentively to Voices of Diverse Residents from Children to Seniors
On-site Visit and Safety Inspection of Gupabalcheon Embankment Risk Areas
Eunpyeong District (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will conduct the second round of resident living site visits titled ‘Kim Mi-kyung’s Into the Residents’ from the 17th to the 24th.
The tour will cover a total of 11 neighborhoods (dong), inspecting the management status of key resident living facilities such as elementary schools and welfare centers within the district.
On the first day of the second site visit, the 17th, visits were made to Gusan-dong and Daejo-dong. Locations included Geobukgol Neighborhood Park in Gusan-dong, the Daejo Senior Welfare Center in Daejo-dong, and the recently completed water play-type children’s playground. Geobukgol Neighborhood Park is a newly completed park where walking trails were refurbished in May, and forest experience facilities such as zip lines were installed.
Mayor Kim Mi-kyung personally checked the usage status of the forest experience facilities and listened to residents’ opinions. She also visited the water play-type children’s playgrounds at Gusan-dong Village Park and Daejo-dong Children’s Park, which will open on the 22nd, encouraging the efforts of related personnel and emphasizing thorough water quality management and safety control.
Additionally, the mayor visited and inspected the flood risk areas of the Gupabalcheon embankment. The lowland reservoir at Pokpodong, connected from Metbugi Bridge to Firefly Bridge along Gupabalcheon, was damaged by heavy rain last year but has since been restored. She examined whether any parts weakened by last week’s heavy rain remained and urged the relevant departments to conduct thorough safety inspections and preparations for areas at risk of damage due to heavy rainfall.
Mayor Kim Mi-kyung stated, “By visiting sites closely related to residents’ lives and directly listening to their opinions, we will strive to make improvements that residents can feel. As continuous rain is expected nationwide, we will strengthen monitoring of areas at risk of damage and do our best to ensure residents’ safety.”
