KOTRA Holds Local Roadshow for 'Indonesian Smart City' Food Products

Purpose of Supporting Project Orders for Promising Domestic Companies

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) held the 'Indonesia East Java Smart City Roadshow' on the 18th in Surabaya, Indonesia, to support domestic promising smart city companies in securing projects.

This event was held to increase overseas information and communication technology (ICT) project orders for domestic small and medium-sized enterprises. It is part of the 'KOTRA ICT Consortium Export Support Project,' which establishes a cooperative system between KOTRA overseas trade offices and domestic ICT companies. At this roadshow, KOTRA promoted ▲Korean Smart City Innovation Technology Presentation ▲Smart City One-on-One Project Consultation ▲Domestic Company-Client Networking Programs.

KOTRA Holds Local Roadshow for 'Indonesian Smart City' Food Products

On the morning of the 18th, domestic smart city companies took time to explain their latest technologies and new products at the 'Korean Smart City Innovation Technology Presentation.' Attendees included departments responsible for projects and procurement from 37 local governments in East Java Province, Indonesia, as well as major smart city project clients. In the afternoon project consultation session, 30 in-depth one-on-one consultations were held between Indonesian local governments, clients, and domestic ICT companies.

On the evening of the 18th, a completion ceremony was held for the first smart streetlight developed by our ICT installed in Madiun City, Indonesia, to be used in a demonstration project. KOTRA has formed a consortium since last year with smart streetlight manufacturer Company A and others to support project orders in Indonesia. Through local market research, they discovered a $32 million streetlight replacement project in Madiun City. Subsequently, they secured the demonstration project rights for this project.

The completion ceremony was attended by local central government ministries such as the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning and Ministry of Transportation, as well as local governments including the East Java provincial government, to review the project outcomes. Since there are plans to benchmark the KOTRA ICT Consortium case in other smart cities across Indonesia, KOTRA explained that opportunities for domestic ICT companies to enter the Indonesian smart city project market could increase.

Kim Junsung, head of the KOTRA Surabaya Trade Office, said, "This roadshow is a great opportunity for our companies to do business with the Indonesian government," adding, "Since there is high demand for infrastructure such as smart city construction and energy savings through new technologies in Indonesia, we will actively support the expansion of our companies' presence and market entry with innovative technologies."
