Dobong-gu, Proactive Cooling Cost Support to Prepare for Heatwave After Monsoon End

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is preparing and implementing cooling cost support measures for vulnerable groups and facilities in anticipation of the upcoming heatwave following the dull monsoon season.

First, the district will provide a special heatwave cooling cost support of 50,000 KRW to 13,800 vulnerable households, including National Basic Livelihood Security recipients, Seoul-type Basic Livelihood Security recipients, near-poverty groups, and single-parent families.

Additionally, 58 elderly paper collectors who spend long hours outdoors in the heat will receive 70,000 KRW in cooling cost support, paid a total of three times.

Cooling costs will also be supported for senior centers and cooling shelters, where anyone can escape the heat without financial burden during the heatwave. 39 senior centers will receive 115,000 KRW twice in total, and 131 cooling shelters will receive 55,000 KRW four times in total.

Besides cooling cost support, the district will strengthen monitoring such as welfare checks and health management for vulnerable groups like elderly living alone to ensure no blind spots occur during the heatwave until it ends.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Vulnerable groups often feel a heavier burden from cooling costs and may not be able to properly cool themselves during the heatwave. We will carefully pay attention so that all residents can spend the hot summer healthily and safely without exclusion.”
