The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 17th that it held the "Korea-US WRC Cooperation Meeting," with Choi Woo-hyuk, Director General of the Radio Policy Bureau, and Anna Gomez, US Ambassador to the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), as representatives of the two countries.

This meeting was the first occasion to discuss the candidate frequency bands of interest for 6G between the two countries after the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) presented the "6G Vision" recommendation (draft) in June. The two countries agreed to continuously promote efforts to lead 6G, including developing the WRC-27 agenda for discovering and researching 6G candidate frequencies at WRC-23 and cooperating on discovering and researching next-generation satellite frequencies in preparation for the 6G era.
Choi Woo-hyuk, Director General of the Radio Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "Through this Korea-US WRC Cooperation Meeting, we shared information on future new industry frequencies of both countries and discussed continuous cooperation directions for the WRC-23 and WRC-27 agendas. We expect that this meeting will further strengthen the cooperation foundation between the two countries."
The Ministry of Science and ICT stated, "Following the discussion of WRC cooperation measures at the Korea-Japan Radio Directors Meeting held in March, we are currently promoting the Korea-China Radio Working-Level Cooperation Meeting and strengthening global cooperation with major countries to ensure that Korea plays an important role in international frequency allocation discussions such as the WRC."
