A firefighting training project combining the metaverse and drones to conduct terrain search and reconnaissance will take place in Ulsan.
On the 17th, the Ulsan Fire Headquarters announced that it will participate in the "Metaverse-based Wildfire Reconnaissance and Life-saving Search Firefighting Drone Training System Development Project."
On the 17th at 3 p.m., the Ulsan Fire Headquarters will sign a business participation agreement with YoYo Interactive Co., Ltd. in the third-floor conference room of the Fire Headquarters. As a specialized agency for disaster response using drones, the Ulsan Fire Headquarters will provide expert technical advice on practical applicability and verification aspects of the system development.
Once this development project is completed, up to four people will be able to simultaneously access an expanded virtual world using a 3D terrain map based on geospatial information to conduct search and reconnaissance training of Ulsan's terrain. It is expected to reduce casualties and property damage in the event of a large wildfire.
A Fire Headquarters official said, "The metaverse-based firefighting drone training system is expected to be safer and more efficient than existing training methods, requiring less time and cost."
