Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) unveiled the district’s symbolic characters ‘Eunbongi·Hakbongi’ and the brand song ‘Meet You in Dobong’.
At the Dobong-gu 50th anniversary event ‘Midsummer Night Festival’ held at Duksung Women’s University on July 1st, the district’s representative character animation and singer Kim Kyung-ho’s live performance of the brand song received enthusiastic cheers from over 3,000 residents in attendance. It also drew great responses from viewers watching live on Dobong-gu’s YouTube channel ‘Dobongbong TV’.
“We will make residents deeply connected to Dobong through Bongbongi (Eunbongi·Hakbongi)”
Since last year, Dobong-gu has focused on developing character designs that emphasize the district’s symbolism while reflecting the latest trends. Using the district’s symbolic tree and bird ? the ginkgo tree and crane from Banghak-dong ? as motifs, the process included a nationwide design preference survey and a naming contest to gather diverse opinions. After about a year of development, ‘Eunbongi·Hakbongi’ were born.
An official from the district stated, “The characters were created to be friendly and appeal to all age groups, from the Alpha generation to seniors,” adding, “Through Bongbongi, we will carry out various promotional activities to help residents feel more connected to Dobong.”
The Dobong-gu characters will serve as a promotional tool to convey the district’s various policies, which may be difficult for residents to understand, in a more accessible way.
‘On weekends~ Meet you in Dobong’ ? Once heard, it stays in your mouth and mind
“With no plans this weekend, I feel like I must visit Dobong-gu immediately,” said a resident after hearing the brand song.
‘Meet You in Dobong’ is Dobong-gu’s representative brand song, expressing the district’s charm through a popular melody and lyrics. The song reflects Mayor Oh Eon-seok’s intention that “the brand song should not be a one-time campaign song solely for district promotion but a song that anyone can enjoy and sing.” The vocals were performed by singer Kim Kyung-ho, who combines delicacy with powerful shouting, enhancing the residents’ sense of intimacy.
The district plans to use the brand song at various district events, in promotional videos, and as the call waiting tone for the district office. Additionally, by registering the work with the Korea Copyright Commission and uploading it to various streaming platforms, the content will expand beyond Dobong to be enjoyed by the entire nation.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok said, “We expect the Dobong-gu representative characters and brand song to greatly contribute to promoting the district’s major policy projects,” and added, “We will continue to develop policies that residents can genuinely feel and work harder on district promotion to publicize them.”
The basic forms of Dobong-gu characters ‘Eunbongi·Hakbongi,’ including various applied movements, and the Dobong-gu brand song ‘Meet You in Dobong’ will be available on the Dobong-gu Office website in July.
