Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) signed an operational agreement for the ‘2023 Jungnang Future Education District’ on the 14th at Jungnang-gu Office with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education to realize a happy educational city for children and youth.
The ‘Jungnang Future Education District’ is a project that provides various educational opportunities and learning experiences to help children and youth grow into talents equipped with future competencies.
Jungnang-gu began by participating in the Future Education District TF team organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education last year, and in February expanded the ‘Innovative Education District’ to the ‘Future Education District.’ Additionally, it formed an operational council to gather opinions reflecting residents’ needs, making efforts to lay the foundation for nurturing future talents in the region.
The agreement ceremony was attended by about 61 people, including Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, Cho Hee-yeon, Superintendent of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, Kim Ae-kyung, Director of the Eastern Education Support Office, and members of the Jungnang Future Education District Operational Council.
According to this agreement, local governments, education offices, schools, and related institutions will establish an organic cooperative system to take the lead in promoting the development of education in the region.
The core projects of the Jungnang Future Education District include four areas: ▲operation of curricula linked to local resources ▲integrated support for after-school care activities linked to local resources ▲support for children and youth autonomous activities ▲establishment of a governance system centered on communication among private, public, and academic sectors, operating a total of 18 programs.
Representative programs include ▲‘Jungnang Hanbakwi’ local experience activities ▲Jungnang Village School ▲Jungnang Children’s Play Festival ▲Jungnang Youth Dream Festival.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Jungnang-gu is striving to strengthen public education and create a quality educational environment through securing 10 billion KRW in educational expenses, building the Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, and supporting free school meals. We will solidify mutual cooperation among related organizations and fulfill our roles in each position so that the Jungnang Future Education District project can actively progress in each sector and Jungnang-gu can take a step forward as a representative educational city.”
