The Mokpo Coast Guard cooperated actively with local governments in case of dangerous situations caused by flooding of rivers and coastal areas due to heavy rain, conducted intensive patrols of harbors and ports, and carried out preemptive safety management related to the occurrence of situations to prevent casualties and property damage, preparing for damage caused by heavy rain.

Meanwhile, on the 15th at 11:53 a.m., the Mokpo Coast Guard transported Ms. A (female, in her 70s), who complained of breathing difficulties on Byeongpungdo Island, Sinan County, to Songdo Port on Jido Island using a patrol vessel and safely handed her over to the 119 ambulance team.

Earlier on the same day, at 12:02 a.m., the Coast Guard received a report of a missing contact vessel, vessel A (1.27 tons, coastal composite, Sinan-registered, 1 crew member), at Songgong Port, Sinan County. A patrol vessel moved to the scene and during the search, at around 12:35 a.m., found vessel A about 3 km southwest of Oedaldo Island.

The Coast Guard immediately boarded vessel A, checked the crew member’s health status and alcohol consumption, found no abnormalities, and conducted safety management until vessel A safely moved to Songgong Port.

On the following day, the 16th, at 2:26 a.m., the Coast Guard received a report that a tugboat was entangled in a fishing net about 9 km north of Jaewondo Island, Sinan County. Rescue forces were dispatched to the scene, and the separation of the tugboat and fishing net was carried out. Safety management of the surrounding sea was conducted until the fishing net removal work was completed at 9:46 a.m. that morning.

Currently, as casualties caused by heavy rain are occurring nationwide, the Coast Guard is making every effort to prevent damage through intensive safety management of the sea, coastal areas, and harbors within the jurisdiction, as well as to maintain a thorough readiness and response posture for potential dangerous situations.
