Dobong-gu, Seoul's First to Enact 'Ordinance for the Creation and Support of Companion Plant Culture'

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has enacted an ordinance regulating the necessary matters for the creation and support of companion plant culture, becoming the first autonomous district in Seoul to do so, and promulgated it on the 13th.


This ordinance was established to contribute to the emotional stability and quality of life of residents by encouraging and supporting the cultivation of companion plants among residents in response to the growing social interest in companion plants.


The ordinance includes the purpose of enactment, definition of companion plants, responsibilities of the district mayor, promotion and support projects, publicity, and establishment of cooperation systems.


Based on the ordinance, the district plans to promote ▲distribution of companion plants ▲operation of horticulture-related education and experience programs ▲hosting events such as exhibitions and competitions related to companion plants ▲providing necessary financial support within the budget to individuals, institutions, and organizations ▲and establishing cooperative systems with institutions and organizations related to companion plants.


Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “With the enactment of this ordinance, administrative and financial grounds for creating a companion plant culture have been established,” and added, “We will use this ordinance as a stepping stone to establish and implement support policies that allow more residents to easily approach companion plants.”
