Yangcheon-gu Supports Up to 1.1 Million KRW for Treatment Costs for All Infertile Couples Lee Gi-jae, Yangcheon District Mayor, Communicating with Children

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that starting this month, to alleviate the financial burden on infertile couples and overcome the ultra-low birthrate crisis, it will remove income criteria and limits on the number of procedures supported, guaranteeing up to 1.1 million KRW per treatment and a total of 22 treatment sessions for all infertile couples residing in the district.

Previously, support was limited to infertile households with income below 180% of the median income, often excluding dual-income couples from eligibility. Additionally, the number of supported procedures was restricted to 10 fresh embryo transfers, 7 frozen embryo transfers, and 5 artificial inseminations, limiting choices for infertile couples who wished to pursue different treatments according to their circumstances.

With the removal of income criteria from this month, all infertile couples who have resided in the district for more than six months will receive treatment cost support ranging from 200,000 KRW to 1.1 million KRW per session.

Furthermore, the previous limits on the number of procedures per type have been abolished, allowing infertile couples to choose their desired treatments within a maximum of 22 sessions.

For infertile individuals aged 44 and under, treatment cost support is up to 1.1 million KRW for fresh embryo transfer, up to 500,000 KRW for frozen embryo transfer, and up to 300,000 KRW for artificial insemination. For those aged 45 and above, support is up to 900,000 KRW for fresh embryo transfer, up to 400,000 KRW for frozen embryo transfer, and up to 200,000 KRW for artificial insemination.

Applications can be submitted by visiting the local public health center in the applicant’s jurisdiction or online through the ‘Government24’ website.

In addition, the district operates the ‘Seoul Mom Home-Visit Happy Breastfeeding Support Project’ for mothers wishing to breastfeed. Breastfeeding experts visit postpartum families to provide breastfeeding education and personalized one-on-one breast massages free of charge up to twice.

The program targets mothers who have resided in the district for more than six months and are within eight weeks postpartum. Applications can be made online through the ‘Seoul Pregnancy and Childbirth Information Center’ website.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “As the ultra-low birthrate crisis becomes a reality, we will do our best to actively discover and implement birth support policies that have a tangible impact, making Yangcheon a great place to have and raise children.”
