At around 8:22 a.m. on the 15th, resident A (65) was crossing a village road near Hwangdun-ri, Sinrim-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon Province, wearing a belt connected to a rope when he was swept away by the rapid current.

A, who was caught on the rope, was rescued by 119 rescue workers who responded to the report. He was then transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but ultimately passed away.

The place A was trying to cross is a vacant house where his parents used to live. It is known that A raised cattle there.

The day before, when the water level rose, A reportedly crossed after attaching ropes on both sides of the road and hooking a safety ring to feed the cattle.

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, believing that A was swept away by the rapid current after falling due to the strong water flow.
