Gyeonggi-do Implements 'Emergency Level 3' at 9:30 PM on the 13th... Control of Trail Entrances and More Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is visiting the Disaster Safety Situation Room on the night of the 13th to inspect the heavy rain damage situation.

Gyeonggi Province issued an emergency Level 3 alert for disaster safety headquarters in 31 cities and counties within the province at 9:30 PM on the 13th.


This escalation came 2 hours and 30 minutes after activating Level 2 at 7 PM that evening. This is the first time this year that Gyeonggi Province has issued a Level 3 alert.


With the upgrade to Level 3, the Gyeonggi Province Disaster Safety Headquarters is managing the heavy rain situation under the control of the Director of the Safety Management Office, while the First Deputy Governor has taken charge of overall situation management.


Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited the Disaster Safety Situation Room 1, set up on the 2nd floor of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building, around 11 PM that night to check the damage situation and encourage the staff on duty.


At Situation Room 1, 41 officials from the provincial government and related agencies are currently working.


After receiving a report on the heavy rain response, Governor Kim Dong-yeon called Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City and Cho Sun-ho, Director of the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, urging them to ensure a thorough response.


Governor Kim emphasized, "Please pay special attention to prevent residents vulnerable to disasters, such as those living in semi-basements, from falling into danger," and added, "Do not let your guard down and respond proactively."


Meanwhile, as of 11:30 PM on the 13th, rainfall in the province was recorded as follows: Namyangju 112.5mm, Gapyeong and Guri 108.5mm, Osan City 95mm. The average rainfall across the 31 cities and counties was 72.7mm.


Gyeonggi Province is currently conducting public awareness through 50 emergency disaster text messages, 98 SMS messages, and 400 disaster alerts and warnings. At the same time, access is being restricted at 3,721 riverside walking trail entrances, 40 floodplain parking lots, 205 temporary and small bridges, 53 areas at risk of steep slope collapse, 129 landslide-prone areas, and 8 coastal and fishing spots.
