Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held the '2023 On-the-Go Provincial Residents' Budget School' hosted by Gyeongnam Province at the Uiryeong-eup Office.
The budget school held on the 12th was attended by about 40 local residents, including members of the Resident Participation Budget Committee and Resident Autonomy Committee. It was organized to strengthen the capacity for residents to independently discover and propose projects they need.
The training began with a lecture by Jeong Rim Jojungnim, a specialist in the Resident Budget School, on understanding the concept of the resident participation budget system, followed by proposal writing methods, project proposal practice, and sharing sessions. The focus was on increasing transparency and fairness in local financial management by having local residents directly participate in the budget process of local governments.
County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, "I hope this training will serve as an opportunity to further discover policy projects closely related to the residents," and added, "We will strive to actively reflect the diverse opinions of residents in the budget formulation process."
Since 2018, Uiryeong-gun has been recognized for steadily establishing the resident participation budget system by annually incorporating resident-proposed projects into the budget through public contests and implementing them.
