Guro-gu Launches ‘Sustainable Development Committee’ for Future Generations
On the 11th, Guro-gu Holds Appointment Ceremony and Service Commencement Report for the Sustainable Development Committee
Composed of 8 Ex Officio Members Including Mayor Moon Heon-il and 22 Appointed Private Members
Research Service for Establishing ‘Basic Strategy and Implementation Plan for Sustainable Development’ to be Conducted by December
The Guro-gu Sustainable Development Committee has officially launched.
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced that on the 11th, it held the appointment ceremony and service commencement report for the Guro-gu Sustainable Development Committee at the City Hall Creative Hall.
The ‘Guro-gu Sustainable Development Committee’ plays a key role in deliberating and advising on Guro-gu’s sustainable development policies in accordance with the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Government Guro-gu Sustainable Development Basic Ordinance.’
It deliberates on ▲matters related to the establishment and modification of basic strategies and implementation plans ▲matters related to monitoring the progress of implementation plans ▲development, dissemination, and sustainability evaluation of sustainable development indicators ▲preparation and publication of reports ▲and other matters deemed necessary by the mayor for sustainable development. The term of office is two years starting from July 1.
The committee consists of 30 members, including Mayor Moon Heon-il as the chairperson, 8 ex officio members, and 22 appointed members including members of the Guro-gu Council.
On the day, appointment letters were presented to the 22 appointed members, and Mayor Moon Heon-il, the ex officio chairperson, and Han Byung-seong, Chairman of the Guro-gu Chamber of Commerce of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, were elected as co-chairs.
Following this, a service commencement report meeting was held for the research service to establish the basic strategy and implementation plan for sustainable development.
The Social Innovation Research Institute, the executing agency, will conduct a research service until December to establish the basic strategy (20 years) and implementation plan (5 years) related to sustainable development and to ensure effectiveness.
A Guro-gu official said, “We expect the Sustainable Development Committee to play an important role in enhancing the sustainability of Guro-gu in the future,” and added, “We will actively incorporate various policies proposed through the committee into district administration and seek sustainable development directions.”
