On the 12th (local time), President Yoon attended the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit and the South Korea-Japan summit, followed by consecutive bilateral meetings with Finland and Lithuania. President Yoon and the leaders of Finland and Lithuania agreed to strengthen cooperation in advanced industries and requested support for hosting the 2030 Busan International Expo.


In the afternoon, President Yoon held a summit with Finnish President Sauli Niinist? in Vilnius, Lithuania, where they exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations, strengthening practical cooperation, international political trends, and cooperation on the international stage, according to the Blue House.


The two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation not only in the fields of science and technology and defense, which have been continuously collaborated on, but also in startup support, radioactive waste management, and electric vehicle battery supply chains, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. In particular, since South Korea and Denmark have excellent companies in the telecommunications technology sector, they agreed to closely cooperate on joint research for 6G and the establishment of international standards.

President Yoon and President Niinist? also exchanged views on recent international situations, including the Korean Peninsula and Ukraine. President Yoon congratulated Finland on joining NATO in April. The two leaders reaffirmed the international community's solidarity in supporting Ukraine and agreed to cooperate closely for the swift peace and restoration of daily life in Ukraine. Additionally, President Yoon expressed hope for the Finnish government's support for the 2030 Busan Expo, which aims to be a solution platform for humanity's pressing challenges.


Immediately after the summit with President Niinist?, President Yoon held a summit with Lithuanian President Gitanas Naus?da, the host of this NATO summit. President Yoon requested expansion of cooperation in advanced industries such as bio between South Korea and Lithuania, while President Naus?da expressed hope to expand cooperation with South Korean semiconductor and display companies. President Naus?da also showed great interest in Korean-made weapon systems, such as self-propelled artillery, which have received favorable reviews from other European countries.


President Yoon officially notified the decision to open a South Korean embassy in Lithuania to promote the development of South Korea-Lithuania relations. President Naus?da expressed gratitude for the decision to open the embassy and hoped that reciprocal exchanges and cooperation would further expand through resident missions in both countries.


Regarding the 2030 Busan Expo, President Yoon said, "We want to share South Korea's experience and know-how of rising from the ruins of war to become an innovative economic powerhouse with the world," and requested Lithuania's support. President Naus?da also evaluated Busan as an optimal candidate city for the World Expo and responded that he would carefully consider South Korea's request.
