[One Day Walk] From Urban Greenery to Bongeunsa Temple and COEX... Cheongdam Station

Today's walking course heads to Cheongdam Station. Cheongdam-dong, where Cheongdam Station is located, was once called Cheongsutgol due to the clear water of the nearby Han River. The name originates from this. Today, it is considered one of the representative affluent neighborhoods not only in Seoul but in all of South Korea.

The area around Cheongdam Station offers a relatively quiet and cozy atmosphere with many green spaces amidst the bustling Gangnam downtown. The neighborhood parks and Han River Park near Cheongdam Station provide spaces where you can feel nature even in the city. Heading from Cheongdam Station towards Samseong Station, you will find Bongeunsa Temple, one of Seoul's representative temples, and directly opposite it is COEX.

The walking course starts at Cheongdam Nadeulmok, which is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 14 of Cheongdam Station. Cheongdam Nadeulmok is located from Bongeun Elementary School towards the Han River, allowing for Han River walks or bicycle tours. During the spring cherry blossom season, you can walk along the cherry blossom path by exiting through Exit 11. Next, head to Cheongdam Road Park located between Olympic-daero. Cheongdam Road Park is easily accessible via Cheongdam Nadeulmok. After visiting Cheongdam Road Park, heading uphill offers a great view of the Han River.

Next, proceed to Bongeunsa Temple. Located in the heart of Gangnam, Bongeunsa was originally established as Gyeonseongsa by Yeonhoeguksa in the 10th year of King Wonseong of Silla. In 1498, Queen Jeonghyeon, the consort of King Seongjong, named it Bongeunsa when it was relocated to this site east of Seolleung. Currently affiliated with the Jogye Order, this temple is famous as a tourist attraction in Seoul and offers experience programs such as temple stays within the city.

The final course is COEX, located opposite Bongeunsa Temple. COEX is a complex center for exhibitions, tourism, and shopping within the Korea International Trade Center, built on a site covering approximately 11,000 pyeong. It consists of 4 floors above ground and 4 floors underground, with a total floor area of about 130,000 pyeong. As a specialized exhibition facility, it houses 12 professional exhibition halls, a convention hall that can accommodate 7,000 people simultaneously, and 61 conference rooms. Inside COEX, there are large shopping malls including COEX Mall, an aquarium, and department stores, making it ideal for shopping and tourism. The course concludes by heading to Samseong Station, which is connected underground to COEX.
