'The Only One in the World' Ferrari Unveils Race Car-Based Model

'KC23' Based on 488 GT3 Evo 2020 Version

Ferrari has unveiled a one-of-a-kind vehicle based on the most successful race car in its history. This vehicle is the KC23, the latest creation from Ferrari's Special Projects program. It was developed for one of Ferrari's major collectors.

The car is based on the 2020 version of the 488 GT3 Evo, the most successful race car in Ferrari's 76-year history. Since its racing debut in 2016, the 488 GT3 has won over 530 races in world endurance racing and achieved more than 119 championships.

The KC23 was designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, building on the layout, chassis, and engine inherited from the 488 GT3. The design structure is monolithic, with no seams as if carved from a single block of metal. Another distinctive feature of this vehicle's design is the contrast between its appearance when stationary and when driving on the road. It has a clean, sleek, and smoothly connected design, but when on the track, the air intakes and rear wing automatically open and become prominent. The side air intakes open automatically when the mid-rear V8 twin-turbo engine is running. There are two wheel options: 18-inch wheels and 21-inch front / 22-inch rear wheels.

A specially developed 4-layer aluminum paint in Gold Mercury livery was used. It shines brightly under sunlight and changes color depending on the type and angle of the light.

The interior was also made similar to the 488 GT3 Evo 2020. The KC23-exclusive seats finished in Alcantara have logos engraved using electric welding technology. To ensure rear visibility, a video camera system is installed instead of the traditional wing mirrors.

The production period for this vehicle was three years. It is a bespoke car made according to customer requirements as part of Ferrari's personalization program. It is scheduled to be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK from the 13th to the 16th, and will be exhibited at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy, from next month 1st to October 2nd.
