Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 12th that it will provide free medical checkups for foreign seasonal workers in the region who are in medical blind spots.
With the farming season underway, the initiative aims to detect health risk factors early among foreign seasonal workers, helping them adapt to the local community and work with peace of mind, receiving great support from farmers.
The county has signed a seasonal labor agreement (MOU) with Cambodia and is actively leading efforts to alleviate labor shortages in rural areas.
The free medical checkup for foreign seasonal workers includes ▲ five basic tests (medical interview, blood pressure, height and weight, InBody, chest X-ray (tuberculosis screening)) ▲ 10 blood and urine tests covering 24 items (5 blood disorders), (6 liver function tests), (4 lipid and cardiovascular tests), (2 kidney function tests), (2 hepatitis B tests), (gout), (blood sugar), (2 urine tests) ▲ mental health management (depression and stress tests), providing a variety of examination items free of charge.
If any abnormalities are found in the test results, the primary care will be guided through the farm owners to health centers or local medical institutions for treatment.
Gochang-gun also supports the cost of issuing drug test certificates required for foreigner registration, alleviating inconvenience for both farmers and foreigners and reducing economic burdens.
Yoo Byung-su, director of the Gochang Health Center, said, “We communicate regularly with the Agricultural Policy Division and share the status of foreign seasonal workers to support medical checkups,” adding, “We expect this to play a significant role in protecting the health of workers in medical blind spots and promoting job stability and productivity improvement.”
