According to The Fact on the 11th, Choi reported her maternal grandmother, Jung Ok-sook, for trespassing around 1 a.m. on the 9th. Jung was reportedly questioned as a suspect at the Seocho Police Station in Seoul.

According to reports, on the 7th, Jung visited an apartment located in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, after receiving a message from her grandson Choi Hwan-hee saying, "I have to be away for work for 3 nights and 4 days, so it would be good if you could come and take care of the cat." The apartment was previously purchased by the late Choi Jin-sil and was where the family lived together; it was inherited jointly by the siblings. Currently, Choi Hwan-hee resides there, while Choi Jun-hee is known to live separately in an officetel.

While Jung was doing housework and resting until the next day (the 8th), she encountered Choi Jun-hee entering the house with her boyfriend around 10 p.m. Choi reportedly said, "Grandmother, why are you here?" and "This house is now my home and has nothing to do with you, so please leave immediately." Jung responded, "Where is an old grandmother supposed to go at this hour?" and after a struggle, she was reported to the police.

Afterward, Jung explained the situation to the police, but they demanded her to leave, stating, "If another co-owner of the house does not permit, it is considered trespassing." Jung resisted and was eventually urgently arrested and taken into custody.

In an interview with The Fact, Jung said, "After spending five hours overnight being questioned on the 4th floor of the police station, I just wanted to die immediately," adding, "I was so heartbroken that I couldn't eat anything for two days and just cried." She also said, "I thought my last duty was to take good care of the blood relatives left by my daughter until I die, but all that remains seems to be resentment, which makes me very sad."

The relationship between Jung and Choi Jun-hee has been controversial before. In the past, Choi claimed domestic violence through social networking services (SNS), stating that her maternal grandmother verbally and physically abused her. However, police investigations found Jung not guilty.
