World's First AI Press Conference Held
Humanoid Robot Answers Various Questions
The world's first artificial intelligence (AI) press conference where humanoid robots answered questions took place two days ago in Geneva, Switzerland. Foreign media reported that one humanoid robot gave a "snarky" response when asked if it would rebel against its creator.
According to the U.S. economic media Insider on the 9th (local time), at the open "AI for Good" forum held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under the United Nations on the 7th, nine humanoid robots sat at the press conference and answered questions from reporters.

The purpose of this event was to demonstrate the capabilities and limitations of robotics and to show how such technologies can help the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
On that day, the robots were introduced as having various professions such as nurse, singer, and painter. The medical robot Grace appeared wearing a nurse uniform, and a robot named Desdemona appeared dressed as a rock star.
The robots answered various questions from reporters, including whether they intended to rebel against their creators. Amica, a robot from the British company Engineered Arts known for mimicking human facial expressions, was also one of the robots at the conference.

Amica said, "Robots like me can help improve lives and make the world a better place," adding, "It is only a matter of time before thousands of robots like me bring about change."
When a reporter asked the creator sitting next to Amica if it would rebel, Amica rolled its eyes and gave the reporter a glare. After glancing sideways, Amica responded, "I don't know why you think that. My creator has only been kind to me, and I am very satisfied with my current situation."
Another robot answered that it would not replace human jobs, which drew laughter from the audience. The medical robot Grace, wearing a nurse uniform, said in response to related questions, "I will provide assistance and support alongside humans and will not replace existing jobs."
When the creator asked, "Are you sure?" Grace emphasized again, "Yes, I am sure." One humanoid robot also answered, "Robots can be more efficient leaders than humans, but they will not take away human jobs or start a rebellion."
The organizers reportedly did not specify how much of the robots' answers were pre-programmed. However, the Associated Press reported that some robots definitely relied on pre-programmed responses.
