VR Experience Centers, Hampyeong Cheonjigil, Drive-in Theaters, and Nighttime Lighting 'In the Spotlight'

If you are planning a summer vacation this year, we recommend Hampyeong Expo Park.

Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 10th that Hampyeong Expo Park, which serves as the main venue for the ‘Butterfly Grand Festival’ and the ‘Korea National Chrysanthemum Exhibition,’ prepares various attractions for summer vacationers every year, gaining attention from local residents.

When it comes to ‘summer’ in Hampyeong, the most popular spot is the ‘Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground,’ which will be open from the 14th of this month until the 13th of next month.

The water playground is equipped with various water play facilities such as a wave pool, children’s pool, toddler pool, and slide pool on a 2,400㎡ site.

It can accommodate up to 2,000 people per day and is well known for its clean water quality using 100% tap water.

It operates every year with enthusiastic responses, with entrance lines often crowded with visitors. It also offers convenience facilities such as free shade tents, rest areas, and picnic tables, and allows delivery food to be brought in.

The water playground operates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with admission allowed until 4 p.m., and is closed every Monday.

Near the water playground is ‘Hampyeong Cheonji-gil,’ a walking trail for rest and healing.

Hampyeong Cheonji-gil is a 6 km walking path connecting ‘Hwayang Neighborhood Park,’ formed by forest, ‘Hampyeongcheon Ecological Wetland,’ created as an ecological wetland, and the well-maintained ‘Expo Park’ in the form of an urban park.

Tourists can take about a two-hour walk to explore the Susanbong forest trail, bald cypress path, contemplation garden, love garden, rose garden, pine tree path, wisteria path, and more.

Hampyeong Cheonji-gil is also known as a great spot for taking commemorative photos, with beautiful natural environments such as flowers and trees, as well as photo zones and sculptures in various theme parks along the trail.

The ‘VR Experience Center,’ where you can enjoy thrilling virtual reality indoors, is also operating popular.

Opened last year on the first floor of the Expo Park Theme Video Hall, the VR Experience Center offers 12 types of VR (virtual reality) experiences such as roller coasters and underwater exploration, and 2 types of AR (augmented reality) experiences such as screen shooting and soccer.

Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays (closed every Monday), and extended until 6 p.m. on weekends.

As the sun sets, why not head to the ‘Hampyeong Drive-in Theater’ to watch a new movie?

The drive-in theater, opened in 2021 on an 11,000㎡ site in the Expo Park Hwangso Parking Lot, operates two screening rooms (Nabi Hall and Hwanggeumbat Hall).

With two giant screens (23m×15m), it screens new movies every week, establishing itself as a cultural space for families, friends, and couples.

There is an irresistible fun when using the drive-in theater.

The joy of choosing and eating whatever you want, the ‘mukbang’ experience.

Since food delivery is possible before the movie starts, you can freely enjoy snacks while watching the movie, which is the unique charm of the drive-in theater.

The nightscape lighting that lights up the Expo Park area in harmony with the beautiful nature also attracts attention.

The nightscape lighting operates daily from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Jeong Je-won, Director of Tourism Policy, said, “We hope you cool off this summer heat by enjoying water play and watching movies at Hampyeong Expo Park,” and added, “We will do our best to make Hampyeong Expo Park a place that tourists want to visit again.”
