Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is recruiting a ‘Children’s Cultural Experience Group’ for elementary students to visit its sister city, Cheongyang-gun, from July 10 to 14.
The ‘Children’s Cultural Experience Group’ was established to promote mutual understanding and friendship by experiencing each other’s cultures through exchanges between sister cities. This exchange, which was suspended due to COVID-19, will resume after four years.
The cultural experience groups from Geumcheon-gu and Cheongyang-gun will tour major local attractions and participate in various experience activities. On August 7, children from Cheongyang-gun will visit Geumcheon-gu and tour Lotte World Tower Seoul Sky and Lotte World Aquarium together with children from Geumcheon-gu. On August 10, children from Geumcheon-gu will visit Cheongyang-gun in Chungnam Province to visit the Wood Culture Natural History Experience Center and Alps Village.
The recruitment target is 20 students in grades 4 to 6 attending elementary schools located in Geumcheon-gu.
Children who wish to participate can download the application form from the notice section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website, fill it out, and submit it by fax or email by July 14.
Participants will be selected through a two-step process: first a document screening, followed by a random draw. The results will be individually notified to guardians on July 20.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope children will experience different regional cultures while participating in activities with their peers,” and added, “I hope this project will serve as an opportunity to strengthen mutual friendship between sister cities.”
