Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) approved the implementation permit for the Sillim General Market Redevelopment Project on the 29th of last month.

The Sillim General Market, located in Sinsa-dong 505-1 area, is a facility over 46 years old, with inadequate customer convenience facilities and a vacancy rate of 47.7%, gradually losing its market functions.

In response, Sillim General Market Development Co., Ltd. was established in 2021 to officially start the redevelopment project. The project promotion plan was approved in September 2022, followed by a review by the Gwanak-gu Architectural Committee in December, leading to the implementation permit being granted in June 2023.

As a result, the Sillim General Market will be transformed into a mixed-use complex combining residential units, retail facilities, and first-class neighborhood living facilities (public office facilities), with 4 basement floors, 15 above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 23,896㎡.

The residential units will total 145 households, and 32 retail units will be supplied. Notably, on the first floor, a public office facility covering 652㎡ will be donated to establish a Small Business Clothing Sewing Collaboration Center.

A district official stated, "We expect the redevelopment project to gain more momentum through this implementation permit," and added, "We will continue to actively cooperate so that the Sillim General Market can quickly restore its market functions and play a significant role in revitalizing the local commercial district."
