Opening of Nowon-gu Surak Senior Welfare Center

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the opening ceremony of the Surak Senior Welfare Center, a district-run facility in Nowon-gu, Seoul, at 4 p.m. on the 7th.


The senior welfare center, with a total floor area of 4,359㎡, consists of one basement floor and five above-ground floors, and is located within the Sanggye Administrative Complex Town near Madeul Station in Sanggye-dong.


The interior includes ▲1st floor: senior cafeteria, information desk, and volunteer room ▲2nd floor: learning center ▲3rd floor: main auditorium, small auditorium, outdoor garden ▲4th floor: Nowon Senior Counseling Center, Nowon Senior Club, community space ▲5th floor: fitness room, health consultation room, rehabilitation room, billiards room, table tennis room, and music and movie room.


The district plans to establish a new-concept senior welfare center that provides content tailored to users’ needs such as counseling, education, hobbies, health, and employment, actively supporting seniors’ healthy and vibrant later years.


The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, officials from public corporations, and local residents. The event proceeded with a progress report, presentation of appreciation plaques, congratulatory speeches, ribbon cutting, and facility tours.


Mayor Oh Seung-rok stated, “The Surak Senior Welfare Center, equipped with various functions, will serve as a model for welfare centers,” adding, “We will continue to identify and support the diverse needs of seniors to make Nowon a better place for them to live.”
