Singer Nam Taehyun (30), who was prosecuted for a drunk driving accident, was sentenced to a fine.
According to the legal community on the 7th, Judge Ham Hyunji of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 27 issued a summary order yesterday imposing a fine of 6 million won on Nam Taehyun, who was summarily prosecuted for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Nam Taehyun was caught by the police around 3:20 a.m. on March 8 while driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol in a resident-priority parking zone in a residential area of Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
According to the investigation, Nam Taehyun moved his vehicle about 5 meters while blocking his acquaintances' cars as he was waiting for a designated driver. Then, while opening the door of a parked car, he collided with a passing taxi. The taxi's right side mirror was damaged in the accident, but it was reported that he reached an agreement with the taxi driver.
At the time, the alcohol test showed that Nam Taehyun's blood alcohol concentration was 0.114%, exceeding the license cancellation level (0.08%).
The prosecution summarily indicted Nam Taehyun on March 29.
At that time, Nam Taehyun apologized, saying, "I bow my head and apologize for causing concern due to my mistake," and added, "There is no excuse for the mistake caused by my reckless judgment."
Meanwhile, Nam Taehyun debuted in 2014 as a member of the group WINNER but withdrew after two years. He is currently active in the band South Club.
In August last year, he was investigated for methamphetamine use along with a participant A from a comprehensive programming channel. The police investigated Nam Taehyun last month for violating the Narcotics Control Act and sent him to the prosecution without detention.
