Classic Music Curator Lee Sang-min to Host Classical Humanities Concert on the 15th
Featuring Musical, Opera, and Film Music Including 'Memory' and 'One Time in a Dream' from Cats
The Pohang Cultural Foundation will hold the fifth theme performance of the 'Pohang Music Odyssey,' titled 'Memory & Dreaming,' on the 15th at 5 p.m. at the Pohang Culture and Arts Center Small Theater.
This performance is prepared with musicals and famous songs from movies that the whole family can enjoy. In particular, classical music curator Lee Sang-min, who worked for Warner Music for 28 years releasing classical albums and handling promotion marketing, is invited to add fun with his witty storytelling.
Also featured are clarinetist Baek Dong-hoon, a Kumho Young Artist known as the 'idol of the classical world,' who studied at the Novosibirsk Special Music School in Russia and graduated from the Paris Conservatory and USC Graduate School in the U.S.; pianist Park Ji-hye, who graduated with honors from Hanyang University College of Music and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in Austria; soprano Kang Tae-kyung, who graduated from Hanyang University Vocal Department and Parma Conservatory in Italy and has won various awards including the 'Piero Boni' International Competition; and pianist Jeon Hae-ran, a graduate of Busan National University who actively accompanies various art groups.
Pianist Park Ji-hye, who graduated with honors from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in Austria.
The July Music Odyssey theme, composed of a diverse repertoire, raises expectations with familiar songs to the public such as 'Memory,' the signature song from the musical 'Cats,' and 'Once Upon a Dream,' a poignant consolation song sung by the heroine Emma in 'Jekyll & Hyde.'
Additionally, the program features various pieces that heighten anticipation just by their titles, including 'Romeo and Juliet,' which sings of the beautiful love between two lovers; 'Quando me'n vo'' from Puccini's opera 'La Boh?me,' considered a masterpiece; and the theme from the movie 'Cinema Paradiso.'
Lasting about 70 minutes, the final series of the 'Pohang Music Odyssey,' 'Memory & Dreaming,' will create an artistic rapport with the audience through a well-prepared musical feast of singing, sound, performance, and talk, making the performance more delicate and beautiful.
