Yeonggwang-gun Operates 'Sea Experience Program' for Prospective Returning Fishermen

From the 4th to the 6th, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, operated the 2nd session of the "Yeonggwang Sea Experience Program," a second coastal village life program for prospective fishery migrants.

According to the county on the 6th, this program is a new project implemented by the 8th term of the Yeonggwang-gun administration, aimed at encouraging stable fishery migration by allowing prospective fishery migrants who wish and plan to move to the fishing village to pre-experience the sea and islands of Yeonggwang.

Additionally, it was conducted for 18 trainees of the Defense Transition Education Center's fishery migration and rural settlement education course at Baeksu Daesinhang and Songido, among other locations.

In particular, participants had the opportunity to directly experience hand fishing such as harvesting clams and cockles with island residents and to experience the lifestyle of fishing village inhabitants.

The county is making every effort to attract fishery migrants by actively linking with organizations such as the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Corporation and the Fishery Migration and Rural Settlement Comprehensive Center to respond to population decline and create vibrant fishing villages.

They are also promoting various fishery migration policies, including supporting young fishery settlers, fishery start-ups, and housing purchases, as well as constructing "Fishery Migrants' Houses" to solve housing issues for fishery migrants.

A participant in the program said, "Through this program, I was able to concretely plan and take action on my vague longing for fishery migration."

Meanwhile, the county operated the 1st Sea Experience Program for 15 prospective fishery migrants from May 24th to 25th, and plans to hold two additional sessions in October and November.
