Online and offline voting conducted on 20 major policies, with 5,455 residents and staff participating
‘Hyodobapsang’ and ‘Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail’ follow in 2nd and 3rd place... Residents resonate with district’s tourism and welfare policies
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, took a commemorative photo with department officials selected for the top 10 policies.
The most beloved Mapo-gu policy by residents during the first year of the 8th local government term was found to be Hongdae’s ‘Red Road’.
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) conducted a vote for the ‘Top 10 Policies of Mapo-gu in the 8th Local Government Term’ from the 5th to the 14th of last month through online and on-site voting, resulting in ‘Red Road’ receiving 1,285 votes and ranking first.
This vote was held targeting 20 policies reflecting the district’s efforts to promote Mapo’s development and enhance residents’ welfare. A total of 5,455 residents and district employees participated, with each person allowed to select up to three policies, resulting in a total of 14,916 votes.
Red Road is a specialized street in the Hongdae area that prevents safety accidents caused by crowd congestion while also enhancing the brand value as a tourist city. The district created the Red Road along an approximately 2 km section from the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, frequently visited by tourists, to Hongdae and Danginri Power Plant, which was ranked first among the policies promoted by Mapo-gu over the past year.
In second place was the ‘Hyodobapsang for residents aged 75 and older’ (1,222 votes).
Hyodobapsang is a project that provides free balanced lunches to residents aged 75 and older to prevent malnutrition and food deprivation. At the same time, it is a one-stop integrated welfare service that checks on their well-being and health status.
Following in 3rd to 5th place were the ‘Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail,’ ‘Mapo Naru Space,’ and ‘Zero Incineration Store’ respectively.
The results show that ‘Red Road’ and ‘Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail’ ranked 1st and 3rd, indicating strong resident support for the district’s tourism policies. Also, ‘Hyodobapsang’ and ‘Mapo Naru Space’ ranked high, confirming that residents resonate with welfare policies that anyone, including the elderly, can enjoy.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “I thank all the residents who showed interest and participated in selecting the top 10 policies of Mapo-gu on the first anniversary of the 8th local government term. We will continue to listen to the voices of residents and do our best to open an era of happiness for Mapo residents.”
