Surpassing 'Sleeping Dogs' and 'Sanyanggae'
The drama "King the Land," starring Im Yoon-ah and Lee Junho, has ranked first in weekly viewing hours in the non-English TV category on Netflix. According to Netflix on the 5th, it was watched for 24.5 million hours over nine days from the 26th of last month to the 2nd of this month. It topped the non-English TV category, surpassing the German crime thriller "Sleeping Dog" and "Hounds," starring Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi.
The viewing hours have shown a steady upward trend. It ranked 7th in the first broadcast week (from the 12th to the 18th of last month), rose to 2nd place the following week (from the 19th to the 25th of last month), and then reached 1st place. Next week, a close competition is expected with "Celebrity," starring Park Gyu-young. According to FlixPatrol, an online content service ranking site, on that day, "Celebrity" ranked 3rd and "King the Land" ranked 5th in the overall Netflix TV category.
"King the Land" is a romantic comedy depicting the love story between the passionate hotelier Cheon Sa-rang (Im Yoon-ah) and the hotel director Gu Won (Lee Junho). It is also performing well on JTBC, recording a viewership rating of over 10%.
