Gyeonggi-do Declares Emergency Level 1 for Heavy Rain... Up to 150mm Expected by the 5th On the 4th, Oh Byung-kwon, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, visited a steep slope to inspect the site amid forecasts of heavy rain.

Gyeonggi Province issued Emergency Level 1 at 4 PM on the 4th in anticipation of heavy rain in the central region from the night of the 4th to the early morning of the 5th.


With the activation of Emergency Level 1, Gyeonggi Province is strengthening on-site management such as inspecting drainage facilities and controlling access to riverside parking lots. Rainwater inlets and drainage channels have been pre-inspected and maintained, and flood prevention materials have been pre-installed in semi-basement houses without flood prevention facilities. In addition, the head of the Natural Disaster Division at the provincial office will serve as the overall situation management leader, with a total of 17 officials from disaster-related departments on duty.


Oh Byeong-kwon, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, personally inspected the installation sites of semi-basement houses in Gimpo City and the steep slopes and retaining walls in the Sau district in the morning, instructing thorough preparation against heavy rain.


The disaster, road, and river departments also conducted pre-inspections of 13 disaster-prone areas over the past weekend.


Additionally, weather analysis information is being disseminated to city and county offices, fire departments, police, and other related agencies, while promotional activities such as disaster alert messages are being carried out in areas at risk of damage, including mountain valleys and landslide-prone zones.


The Korea Meteorological Administration issued heavy rain advisories at 3:30 PM for five cities/counties including Ansan, Siheung, Gimpo, Pyeongtaek, and Hwaseong, and at 5 PM for Icheon and Anseong. Heavy rain advisories are scheduled to be issued at 6 PM for the remaining 24 cities/counties. The KMA forecasts 50 to 150 mm of rain in Gyeonggi Province from 11 AM on the 4th to 9 AM on the 5th.
