The National Peasants' Federation Gyeongbuk Provincial Federation's Annual Family Festival Held Grandly in Cheongsong-gun

July 1-2, Gyeongbuk Cheongsong National Sports Center and Minyechon

The 2023 Family Festival of the National Peasants' Federation Gyeongbuk Provincial Federation was successfully held for two days and one night from July 1 to 2 at the Cheongsong National Sports Center and the Folk Village area in Gyeongbuk.

This event was attended by over 600 members of the Peasants' Association from 15 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk, who participated with their families to enjoy a joyful time, aiming to create a hopeful future for agriculture, rural areas, and farmers.


Amid rising costs of agricultural materials and labor, and reduced crop yields due to abnormal weather conditions such as cold damage, frost, and hail, the National Peasants' Federation Gyeongbuk Provincial Federation (Chairman Kim Taehyun) organized this event to momentarily set aside the daily hardships and spend time caring for each other and enjoying together for sustainable agriculture and a world where farmers are also happy.


In particular, the Family Festival featured various programs. The cultural experience area offered activities such as making aroma oil sunscreen, caricature drawing, and creating personalized pottery. In the promotional area, agricultural policy brochures were distributed, and an air bounce water playground was operated for participating families and children.


Additionally, in the evening, diverse cultural performances were held, including a magic soap bubble show, a traditional yard play, and a singing troupe called Maekbak.


Chairman Kim Taehyun stated in his opening remarks, “We express concern and opposition to the government's push for joining the CPTPP, which threatens the nation's food supply,” and added, “We are very grateful to the Cheongsong County Peasants' Association for preparing this event, and on behalf of all members of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Federation, I extend my thanks to Cheongsong County Governor Yoon Kyunghee for her unwavering support in hosting the event.”


Governor Yoon Kyunghee said in her congratulatory speech, “Cheongsong County will play a leading role to make agriculture and rural areas in Korea number one for agriculture and farmers,” and added, “During your stay in Cheongsong for two days and one night, I hope you can temporarily set aside the worries and concerns accumulated from farming and have a time where you can be a source of strength for each other.”
