Gangdong-gu Mayor Lee Su-hee: "The Next 3 Years Will Decide Gangdong-gu's Next 30 Years"

Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, Marks 1st Anniversary of the 8th Elected Term: “Accelerating Change, the Next 3 Years Will Determine Gangdong-gu’s Next 30 Years”

On the 3rd, Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, commemorated the 1st anniversary of her 8th elected term at the Gangdong-gu Citizens’ Hall, where over 700 employees attended. She reflected on the achievements of the past year and shared the future direction and aspirations for district administration, reaffirming her initial commitment.

The event was organized to share past accomplishments and upcoming key issues, systematically prepare for the next three years that will determine the following 30 years, and to publicly demonstrate the will for change both internally and externally.

Over the past year, Gangdong-gu has undergone numerous changes and received external recognition, earning various awards in 58 categories. It was also acknowledged as an excellent district in the national local government innovation evaluation.

Furthermore, through active efforts such as consultations with related organizations to resolve various local issues, tangible results have been achieved, including the commencement of the main construction of the Phase 4 extension project of Subway Line 9 and the resumption of the Dunchun Jugong reconstruction project.

Regarding key projects to be promoted going forward, the mayor highlighted ▲completion of Godeok Biz Valley and Gangdong General Industrial Complex ▲completion of the Phase 4 extension of Subway Line 9 and Sejong-Pocheon Expressway ▲GTX-D line passing through Gangdong-gu and direct connection of Subway Line 5 ▲completion of Amsa Station and Park Station on Line 8 ▲the mid- to long-term urban development plan ‘Gangdong Grand Design’ ▲establishment of a robust safety net ▲creation of a skywalk, stating that these will be actively pursued over the remaining three years.

Mayor Lee Soo-hee said, “Gangdong-gu is currently emerging as the undisputed center of the eastern metropolitan area in terms of economy, transportation, and environment. Now, one year after my inauguration, it is time to accelerate key district projects, and I will do my utmost over the next three years to see the fruits of these changes.”
