A retired sergeant was arrested by the police after stealing and driving two vehicles while intoxicated, causing an accident.
On the 4th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had urgently arrested Sergeant A, in his 20s, on charges of theft and violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), and handed him over to the military police.
Sergeant A is accused of stealing a delivery vehicle and crashing into a roadside tree around 10:40 a.m. on the 29th of last month in Gangseo-gu.
Less than an hour later, at around 11:30 a.m., A stole and drove a 1-ton truck in the Mokdong area of Yangcheon-gu. The police arrested A urgently at around 4:20 p.m. that day in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi Province.
At the time of arrest, A’s blood alcohol concentration was reportedly at the level warranting license suspension.
It was reported that A was just three days away from discharge at the time.
A police official stated, "After A’s arrest, he was handed over to the military police."
