Dobong-gu Supports Energy Vouchers for Vulnerable Groups

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it will implement the energy voucher program supporting cooling and heating costs for energy-vulnerable groups until the end of this year.

The energy voucher system helps energy-vulnerable groups purchase electricity, city gas, district heating, kerosene, LPG, and briquettes.

Eligible applicants are households that meet both income criteria and household member characteristics, specifically recipients of livelihood, medical, housing, or education benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, where the applicant or a household member is elderly, an infant or young child, disabled, pregnant, suffering from severe, rare, or intractable diseases, a single-parent family, or a child from a youth-headed household (including children under foster care).

The annual support amount is 149,800 KRW for single-person households, 205,700 KRW for two-person households, 292,500 KRW for three-person households, and 379,600 KRW for households of four or more.

During the summer period (July to September), the amount is automatically deducted from electricity bills, while in the winter period (October to April of the following year), beneficiaries can choose energy sources such as electricity, city gas, kerosene, or LPG to have the amount automatically deducted or purchase directly using the National Happiness Card.

Unused balances from the summer period can be carried over to the winter period, and up to 45,000 KRW of the winter support amount can be used in advance during the summer period.

The application period is until December 29. Applications can be submitted by visiting the local community service center of the resident registration address or through the Bokjiro website. However, those who were supported in 2022 and meet the 2023 eligibility criteria without any changes in information will be automatically enrolled and do not need to apply separately.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu stated, “With the recent increase in cooling and heating costs causing financial burdens, we hope the energy voucher can alleviate some of the economic difficulties faced by energy-vulnerable groups. We will do our best to ensure that all eligible household members benefit through active promotion.”
