CXO Research Institute Survey on Stock Valuation of 33 Group Heads
Samsung Lee Jae-yong 13 Trillion Won... Earned Over 1 Trillion in 6 Months
DB Kim Joon-gi's Stock Wealth Up 40%

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong's stock assets increased by more than 1.4 trillion KRW in the first half of the year. DB Group Founder Chairman Kim Joon-ki's stock assets also rose by more than 40% over six months.


On the 4th, Korea CXO Research Institute, a corporate analysis specialist, announced the results of a survey on changes in the stock valuation of 33 group heads with stock valuations exceeding 100 billion KRW.


The total stock valuation of the 33 group heads at the end of last month was 47.8996 trillion KRW, up 3.1% (1.4521 trillion KRW) from the beginning of the year (46.4475 trillion KRW). Stock valuations increased for 19 group heads and decreased for 14 group heads.

The group head with the largest increase was Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong. Chairman Lee's stock assets rose from 11.5969 trillion KRW at the beginning of the year to 12.9984 trillion KRW at the end of last month, an increase of 1.4015 trillion KRW (12.1%).


The group head with the highest growth rate was OCI Chairman Lee Woo-hyun. His stock assets rose 48.2% from 93.9 billion KRW at the beginning of the year to 139.2 billion KRW at the end of last month. Chairman Lee was able to increase his assets by holding only OCI shares in the first quarter and then acquiring OCI Holdings shares after the corporate spin-off.

DB Founder Chairman Kim Joon-ki's stock assets also increased by more than 40% over six months. They rose 40.5% from 353.2 billion KRW at the beginning of the year to 496.1 billion KRW at the end of last month. As of the end of last month, he holds shares in four companies: DB, DB HiTek, DB Insurance, and DB Financial Investment.


Other group heads whose stock assets increased by more than 20% in the first half include SeAH Chairman Lee Soon-hyung (32.3%), Hanjin Chairman Cho Won-tae (31%), Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Eui-sun (29.5%), HL Chairman Chung Mong-won (21%), and HDC Chairman Chung Mong-gyu (20.7%).

Among the group heads whose stock assets decreased, former DaouKiwoom Chairman Kim Ik-rae had the highest decline rate. His stock assets fell 61.5% from 354.3 billion KRW at the beginning of the year to 136.5 billion KRW at the end of last month. Following him were Amorepacific Chairman Seo Kyung-bae (-25.7%), CJ Chairman Lee Jae-hyun (-20.3%), Lotte Chairman Shin Dong-bin (-19.7%), and SK Chairman Chey Tae-won (-19.6%). Chairman Shin Dong-bin's stock assets decreased by 140.3 billion KRW from 711.9 billion KRW at the beginning of the year to 571.6 billion KRW at the end of last month. Chairman Chey Tae-won's stocks fell by 470.8 billion KRW from 2.4022 trillion KRW to 1.9314 trillion KRW.


The top stock asset holder was Chairman Lee Jae-yong (12.9984 trillion KRW). Also ranking in the top 10 were Celltrion Co-Chairman Seo Jung-jin (8.7788 trillion KRW), Kakao Future Initiative Center Head Kim Beom-su (5.2226 trillion KRW), Chairman Chung Eui-sun (3.6533 trillion KRW), LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo (2.2085 trillion KRW), Chairman Chey Tae-won (1.9314 trillion KRW), Chairman Seo Kyung-bae (1.8109 trillion KRW), Asan Foundation Chairman Chung Mong-joon (1.2585 trillion KRW), Naver Global Investment Officer (GIO) Lee Hae-jin (1.1205 trillion KRW), and Netmarble Chairman Bang Jun-hyuk (1.0178 trillion KRW).
