On the same day, Kang Sun-woo, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who visited the bookstore, posted a photo with President Moon on social media. Kang wrote, "I missed and longed for President Moon Jae-in. He also shared the first new potatoes harvested this summer from Pyeongsan Village, along with his generous heart."
However, supporters focused on the former president’s face. In the photo, Moon had a large bandage on his forehead and bruises around his chin.
His face still showed swelling, but former President Moon smiled brightly and posed warmly with Kang and other supporters for a commemorative photo.
Among supporters, there were complaints such as, “Moonpeu (a nickname for former President Moon) looks unwell,” “It’s good to welcome those who come to see the president, but on days like this, I wish he would just rest,” and “Was it really necessary to reveal this kind of appearance?”
Some directed sharp criticism at Kang, saying, “Was there really a reason to push the president’s face in front of the camera when he wasn’t feeling well?” “I don’t understand what they were thinking when posting the photo,” and “Did they really have to take a certification shot?”
According to political circles, the bandage on former President Moon’s face was due to a bee sting, and the swelling and bruises were aftereffects of dental implant surgery.
Meanwhile, since opening Pyeongsan Bookstore in his hometown, Pyeongsan Village, Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, in April, former President Moon has been participating in various events as the bookstore keeper and personally welcoming guests.
On the 3rd, through social media, former President Moon recommended the book Power of Peace by former First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong-geon, indirectly criticizing the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the ruling party by saying, “There are still many people who have not escaped Cold War thinking.”
