Ministry of Culture and Korea Creative Content Agency Host 'The Story Concert'
Director Yuseondong and Writer Oh Youngseok Share Know-How
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency held 'The Story Concert' on the 30th of last month at the CKL Enterprise Support Center in Jung-gu, Seoul. This talk event invited famous domestic writers and directors to share their creative processes and know-how.
This year, the winners of the Korea Creative Content Agency's story discovery project, the 'Korea Story Contest,' participated. They were director Yoo Seon-dong and writer Oh Young-seok, who won the Excellence Award in 2011. Director Yoo is known for directing the dramas 'Bad and Crazy' and 'The Uncanny Counter.' Writer Oh has achieved secondary commercialization contracts and overseas expansion with webtoons such as 'Dokgo' and 'Tong.'
Director Yoo shared filming episodes of 'The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch,' which will be released this month, along with his creative motivation and production know-how. When asked about the difficulties, he said, "There were many action scenes more challenging than in 'The Uncanny Counter,'" but added, "All the actors and staff participated in filming without showing signs of hardship, so I was happy to produce it."
Writer Oh offered various advice to emerging creators. He emphasized, "When you dream of becoming a writer, you already have the ability as a writer," and added, "While creativity is important, sincerity and trustworthiness in delivering scripts on the promised date to clients are essential for opportunities to come."
Meanwhile, the Korea Creative Content Agency conducts various support projects beyond The Story Concert and the Korea Story Contest to strengthen creators' capabilities and induce the discovery and distribution of new stories. In particular, in November, the agency plans to turn the 'Content IP Industry Exhibition,' a comprehensive IP business event, into a major IP commercialization opportunity.
Cho Hyun-rae, president of the Korea Creative Content Agency, stated, "For K-content to achieve sustainable development, excellent stories are needed above all," and promised, "We will carry out systematic follow-up support projects that provide practical help to prospective creators."
