Director Choi Seingyu Appointed Honorary President of Korea Cartoonists Association

The Korea Cartoonists Association announced on the 3rd that it will appoint Director Choi Sin-gyu, who is active in the fields of animation soundtrack music and popular songs, as honorary chairman. Director Choi has composed and written lyrics for popular songs such as Kim So-yeon's "TtoTto" and Kim Yeon-ja's "Ssukdeokkung," as well as animation OSTs including "Charging Top Spinner" and "Hello Carbot."

President Shin Il-sook stated, "Director Choi Sin-gyu has led the development of Korean cartoons and animation for over 20 years and has been engaged in active business in a creative way. His love for cartoons has always been special, and since he has silently supported veteran artists for a long time, we intend to welcome him as the honorary chairman of the Korea Cartoonists Association to jointly promote the advancement of the Korean cartoon industry."

Director Choi expressed, "It is a great honor to be with the Korea Cartoonists Association. Our country's cartoons have infused imagination and energy into various fields, and there has been the dedication of many cartoonists. I will do my best to contribute to the development of our country's cartoons in the future."

Director Choi was recognized for his contributions to the development of Korean cartoons, receiving a plaque of appreciation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 1996 for his contribution to hosting SICAF (Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival), and in 2018, he received a plaque of appreciation from the Korea Cartoonists Association (former chairman Yoon Tae-ho). He is also dedicated to nurturing cartoonists by providing scholarships to students in the Department of Cartoon and Animation at Sejong University.
