SK Rent-a-Car announced on the 3rd that it has published the ‘2022 Sustainability Management Report.’
Following the industry’s first publication of a sustainability management report in May last year, SK Rent-a-Car is once again sharing the company’s sustainability management achievements with stakeholders through this year’s report. The company plans to continue publishing annual reports going forward.
SK Rent-a-Car identified key ESG topics through a ‘double materiality assessment’ in accordance with the revised international reporting standards (GRI). The management plan for these material topics was established based on the standards (4-Pillar) announced by the ISSB (International Sustainability Standards Board). Through this, the company plans to proactively respond to the ISSB’s ESG disclosure standards, which will be introduced from 2025 for listed companies with assets exceeding 2 trillion KRW, and gradually enhance its disclosure capabilities.
This report newly established a special section called ‘Better,’ which discloses social value measurement indicators and results according to SK’s management principle ‘DBL (Double Bottom Line),’ pursuing both economic and social value simultaneously. When converted into monetary terms, SK Rent-a-Car’s economic indirect contributions, environmental, and social performance last year generated a total social value of 143.4 billion KRW. This figure is approximately 1.5 times the company’s operating profit of 95.1 billion KRW in 2022.
An SK Rent-a-Car official stated, “Last year, by publishing the sustainability management report for the first time in the industry, we have transparently disclosed and communicated our ESG management achievements to stakeholders,” adding, “We will continue our efforts to fulfill our social responsibilities as a leading company in the domestic rent-a-car industry and to become a sustainable company that creates social value.”
The SK Rent-a-Car 2022 Sustainability Management Report can be viewed in the sustainability management section on the company’s website.
