‘Dipeuda Jeju’ and Ihoteu Beach ‘Bonggeuking’ Activities
Narasella announced on the 3rd that it has launched the 'Donnafugata Clean Campaign' as part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities.
This Donnafugata Clean Campaign involved a 'bonggeugging' activity to collect marine litter around Ihoteu Beach in Jeju City, with participation from the youth group 'Deepda Jeju,' a marine litter collection organization, and residents in their 20s and 30s living in Jeju City. Bonggeugging is a compound word combining the Jeju dialect word 'bonggeugi,' meaning 'to pick up,' and 'plogging,' an activity of picking up trash while jogging.
Jang Hyo-jung, Manager of the Marketing Planning Team at Narasella, said, "Sicily, where the Donnafugata Winery is located, and Jeju Island share commonalities as volcanic islands with indigenous crops and rich vegetation, both recognized as beautiful islands by UNESCO. We planned this campaign with the intention of protecting the beautiful sea connecting Sicily and Jeju Island."
Donnafugata is a Sicilian winery with a 160-year tradition and a member of the Italian wine producers association 'Grandi Marchi.' For the past 30 years, it has produced wine without using chemical fertilizers or herbicides, focusing on the sustainability of the natural environment. Additionally, it has made efforts to incorporate environmentally friendly technologies to protect the environment and biodiversity, such as launching products using Nomacorc made from recycled plastics collected from coastal areas, a world first.
