A part-time worker at a PC bang who was about to graduate from university helped capture a wanted criminal with sharp observation skills.
According to the Daegu Dongbu Police Station on the 1st, the police responded to a report from a PC bang part-timer, Mr. A, on the 30th of last month and arrested Mr. B, who was wanted on theft charges.
Earlier, Mr. A posted on an online community with the title "I, a brave citizen, just caught a wanted criminal."
At around 10:45 a.m. on the 30th of last month, Mr. A felt suspicious when he saw a man visiting the PC bang where he was working part-time. The man resembled the wanted person posted at the PC bang. After checking the CCTV with another part-timer, Mr. A concluded that the customer and the man in the wanted poster were the same person.
He immediately called the detective listed on the wanted poster. Afterwards, he exchanged text messages with the detective to confirm once again whether the man was indeed the wanted criminal.
Mr. A said, "I showed the CCTV footage to the detective, and the detective said the man in the photo he sent had the same watch and shoes as the customer," adding, "I asked the detectives to come quickly. The customer logged in as a guest and was just browsing, so I thought he would leave soon."
According to the message Mr. A posted online as proof, he told the police, "The watch is the same," and "There is only one entrance. Since I am near the entrance, you can come in together. He has nowhere to escape."
The police who responded to Mr. A's report arrested the wanted criminal. Mr. A said, "I felt good because I was contacted by the police today saying they caught the person who scammed me last year, and I feel very proud to have reported a wanted criminal," adding, "I heard there might be a reward, but I’m not expecting it."
The original post written by Mr. A has been deleted. However, his story has spread online and become a hot topic.
Netizens who read his story reacted, saying, "His observation skills are amazing. There really are people who carefully look at wanted posters," and "This is why wanted flyers are distributed."
