Searching Underway After Being Swept Away by Rapids While Camping with Pet Dog

The fire authorities received a report that a woman in her 40s went missing after falling into the Hongcheon River in Palbong-ri, Seomyeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province, and have launched a search operation.


According to the fire authorities on the 1st, around 6:36 a.m., A (46), who had come to the Hongcheon River from Osan-si, Gyeonggi Province for camping, was swept away by the current of the Hongcheon River and went missing.

A was camping outdoors with her group and pet dog when she entered the water out of curiosity to see if the dog would help if a person was in danger, but was swept away by the rapid current.


The fire authorities, who responded to the report, are conducting a search with 16 pieces of equipment including helicopters and drones, and 30 personnel. The site is currently facing difficulties in rescue due to the fast current and muddy water.


The police are continuing the search while investigating the exact circumstances with the missing woman and the three companions who came to the Hongcheon River.
