Baek Won-guk, the Presidential Office's Secretary for Land, Infrastructure and Transport, has been appointed as the new 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Vice Minister Baek is from Geochang, Gyeongnam. He graduated from Daeseong High School in Geochang and earned a degree in Architectural Engineering from Sungkyunkwan University. He also obtained a master's degree in engineering from the Graduate School of Future Strategy at KAIST.

He entered public service through the 31st Technical Examination and has served as Director of Urban Regeneration Division and Director of Happy Housing Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. He later held positions such as Director of the Busan Regional Land Management Office, Head of the Urban Regeneration Project Planning Team, and Director of Land Policy. He was dispatched to the transition team of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and worked as the Secretary for Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the Presidential Office.

He has experience handling current issues such as the Cargo Solidarity collective transport refusal and the reduction of tolls on the Incheon Bridge. Above all, he is highly regarded for his outstanding ability to manage conflicting positions and conflicts among stakeholders in the policy field and to derive solutions.
