CU Box showcases video recognition-based logistics robot system at KOFAS 2023 Manufacturing Automation Technology Exhibition

CU Box showcases video recognition-based logistics robot system at KOFAS 2023 Manufacturing Automation Technology Exhibition

CUBox, a specialized AI video recognition company, participated in KOFAS 2023 (2023 Manufacturing Automation Technology Exhibition, 6.28.~7.1., Changwon Convention Center) to showcase its logistics robot system integrated with its AI video recognition technology to the public for the first time.

At this exhibition, CUBox unveiled an Order Picking System in which robots automatically place items ordered by customers into boxes using video recognition AI. Currently, this area in logistics centers is difficult to automate and mostly relies on human labor. With the growing demand for personalized logistics, the need to reduce logistics center costs is increasing, and the demand for order picking robots is expected to grow explosively. Especially for small-package logistics of irregular, multi-variety products, an advanced robot system is essential, but systems that fully satisfy such industry needs are still rare. The system CUBox revealed at KOFAS reflects industry needs sufficiently and demonstrates on-site features such as △grasp state recognition △real-time transport speed control △product area separation △automatic inference of grasping order △automatic box ejection △order status monitoring without requiring changes to the existing logistics center layout.

CUBox established a Robot Research Institute in 2022, focusing intensive investment on AI video recognition technology and robot development. The Robot Research Institute is composed mostly of PhDs from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and independently researches and develops key components necessary for building order picking robots that meet field demands.

Nam Woonsung, CEO of CUBox, stated, “It is meaningful to participate in this exhibition as we present our order picking robot to customers for the first time following intensive investment and technological development since the launch of the Robot Research Institute,” adding, “This will also serve as an opportunity to demonstrate our expansion capabilities through technological expertise as a specialized AI video recognition company.”
