Posco Pier Access Control Center Completion Ceremony Held
Supporting Access Management and Employee Safety Training
POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks announced on the 27th that it held a completion ceremony for the POSCO Wharf Access Management Center and officially began operating the management center to prevent safety accidents and strengthen security within the wharf.
Previously, according to the "Special Act on Port Safety" enforced on August 4, 2022, all 490 port cargo handling sites nationwide must establish their own safety management plans and obtain approval from the port authority.

In particular, it is mandatory to form a port safety council involving labor, management, and government in the port logistics industry, operate safety education for port workers to prevent accidents, and discuss necessary measures for accident prevention.
Accordingly, Gwangyang Steelworks established the POSCO Wharf Access Management Center, providing an educational space to support legally mandated safety training for wharf entrants such as cargo handling company employees and port labor union members.
Additionally, in accordance with the safety attire regulations for POSCO wharf entrants, the center is also used as a space to lend safety helmets and safety vests. Furthermore, procedures such as issuing wharf access passes and confirming completion of safety training are conducted, fulfilling its role as a management center responsible for the safety and security of the wharf.
Jeon Wanjin, leader of the Production Technology Department at Gwangyang Steelworks, said, "This port is an important area where everything from raw material imports to product shipments takes place," adding, "We will manage and operate it with a sense of safety awareness and responsibility so that no unfortunate safety accidents occur here."
