Heavy Rainfall Over 200mm in Gwangju and Jeonnam... More Torrential Rain Expected Tomorrow

Heavy rain poured over Gwangju and Jeonnam regions due to the influence of the monsoon front.


According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 28th, the cumulative rainfall from 12 PM the previous day to 9 AM on the same day was recorded as 270.4mm in Gwangju, 250.5mm at Chosun University, 246mm in Pungam, and 210.6mm in Gwangsan.


Nam-gu's measurements are inaccurate due to equipment malfunction.

In the Jeonnam region, rainfall amounts were 217mm in Damyang Bongsan, 207.5mm in Hwasunbuk, 197.9mm in Boseong-gun, 196mm in Hampyeong, 185.5mm in Naju, 184.5mm in Gokseong, 170.4mm in Yeosu, 169mm in Goheung, and 142.5mm in Gwangyang.


Currently, the rain has lessened, and heavy rain warnings have been lifted for all of Gwangju and 15 locations in Jeonnam.


However, some areas are expected to experience showers in the afternoon, with anticipated rainfall of 40 to 50mm.


From the 29th to the 30th, the monsoon front is expected to bring rain to the central region before moving to the southern region, resulting in 100 to 200mm of rain over two days. Some areas may experience heavy rain up to 250mm.
